What is the difference between Corporate Coaching
and Personal Coaching?
Corporate coaching focuses on organizations.
Both the corporation and the individuals benefit from coaching. Topics include:
becoming a more effective leader/ communicator, resolving conflicts, managing
one’s time more efficiently, developing high performing teams, empowering
employees, transitioning through change, handling crisis situations, attaining
an optimal work/ life balance.
Personal coaching centers on the coachee.
The coach is focused on relating with and developing the coachee, while
realizing the coachee's vision. Topics include: strengthening relationships,
designing an ideal life, identifying and expressing a passion, increasing
one’s self-confidence, changing careers, being aligned with personal
values, living a more fulfilling life, achieving inner peace.

What is the difference between a therapist,
a consultant, and a coach?
Assume you have always been an average swimmer. You once had a traumatizing
experience, and since then, you have always been somewhat nervous in water.
Today, you have decided that you want to become a strong swimmer.
You might consider a therapist to help you fully understand what might have led you to become a nervous swimmer.
Understanding clearly what happened will help you let go of this traumatizing
event and identify the tools necessary to move forward.
You might consider a consultant to explain the different swimming styles
and what you can achieve with each one. A consultant will explain the technical
skills required to become the best possible swimmer and will select
swimming coaches for you to work with.
You might consider a coach to partner with you in your journey, reminding
you of your vision, believing in you, making you accountable, encouraging
your achievements, challenging your resistance, and helping you grow from
your setbacks.

How do I select a coach?
The connection between you and your coach is crucial to create a successful
partnership. It is strongly recommended that you interview 2-3 coaches and
take advantage of the complimentary session offered by most coaches. It
is advisable to select a coach who will be completely objective, and act
as a true sounding board. He/ she should help you see things that you had
not noticed, that never occurred to you or that you did not think were possible.
Questions to consider: Am I comfortable with this coach’s style? Do
I respect this coach? What type of training/ accreditation has this coach
received? Will I be able to open up to and trust this coach? Does this coach
"walk the talk" and will he/ she inspire me? Does this coach understand me?
Will this coach give me the confidence to try new things? Will this coach
challenge me? Will this coach help me reach my goals? Will this coach maximize
my learning and personal growth?

How long does a coaching contract last?
A coaching partnership typically lasts 6-9 months. The recommended minimum
is 3 months, to create a lasting impact. Sessions are scheduled 2-3 times
a month and last 45-60 mins. Most coaches meet with coachees by phone, which
makes it possible to connect from any location in the world.

What happens during a coaching session?
1. The coachee defines the desired focus and agenda of
the session (objectives, targets, vision).
2. The coach listens and asks challenging questions to
enable the coachees to identify their strengths and resources to help them
move towards their goals and stretch their thinking to discover new solutions,
whilst removing any obstacles and limiting beliefs.
3. Together, the coach and the coachee will establish a
personalized strategy and action plan. Each session ends with an agreement
between coachee and coach regarding action steps for the coachee.
4. Between sessions, coachees will typically experience
insights, breakthroughs, shifts and continued personal growth.

What are the advantages of working with
a certified coach?
The advantages of working with a certified coach is that he/ she will adhere
to clear and rigorous criteria of technique, code of ethics, coaching training
and experience. There exist a number of certifying organizations in the
coaching industry. Typically, the process of certification involves exams
and the demonstration of essential competencies. Certification provides
assurance to coachees that they are working with a professional coach.

Should something be “wrong”
in order to work with a coach?
A coach is a professional who will help you reach your goals, and not necessarily
resolve your problems. In fact, it is only when we are doing well that we
can address in all peace of mind, the future, and the opportunities and
threats involved. A number of organizations offer coaching to managers with
high potential, who have been recently promoted, so as to provide them with
all the tools necessary to succeed, be operational and efficient immediately,
enable them to clearly identify the stakes, priorities, and also avoid becoming
overwhelmed in their new role.
A number of company boards engage in team coaching, especially when the
organization is doing well, and is a market leader. The objective is to
identify threats, opportunities and anticipate the future. This visionary
work of reflection is much more difficult to perform during crisis situations.
Proactivity creates a greater impact than reactivity.

How can I find out if coaching is for me?
The best way to experience coaching is to try it. Most coaches offer a complimentary
session. It is recommended that you take advantage of this session to see
if you are comfortable with coaching and with your coach’s style.
In addition, we suggest you spend some time identifying what you would expect
to accomplish in coaching. Ask yourself if you are ready to devote the time
and energy to making real changes in your work and/ or life.

How can I measure the success of coaching?
The coach and the coachee, together, set clear objectives, which are measurable
and time bound. This will enable the coachee to evaluate the success of
the coaching work; these measurements will have been discussed at the beginning
of the coaching partnership.
