We work with Leaders of Change worldwide who are committed to making a lasting difference in their approach to leading others through transitions.
The leaders we work with are active in various sectors (pharmaceuticals, financial services, insurance companies, industrial goods, manufacturing, FMCG…) and seek to expand their organization's competitive advantage by effecting change. They want to generate commitment and mobilize individuals, and empower them to contribute to the creation of extraordinary results.
Are some of these statements true for you?
- "The stakes are very high for this transition and there is no room for failure." More often than not, transitions within organizations are highly visible and draw a lot of attention. The entire organization is watching and there is a lot riding on the success of the change initiative.
How can you ensure that you are moving forward with the transition in an effective and efficient manner and that you and your team will be successful?
- "The team I am leading seems to be working against me instead of with me, it feels like an uphill battle every day." Change can be very difficult to accept and face a lot of resistance. – as it requires individuals to start doing something differently. This can generate a lot of negative feelings, such as frustration, stress, fear, apathy, around the initiative within the organization.
How can you generate the necessary enthusiasm and commitment to create the necessary followership to achieve a successful transition?
- "I spend all my time firefighting instead of strategizing." Transitions can feel very lonely for Leaders of Change – leaving them with the impression that no one is stepping up to the plate, and they have to do the job of others. This can become exhausting, leaving them with little time to focus on the big picture.
What is the long term impact on the success of the transition and the organization if you are spending all your time focusing on the little things rather than on the big picture?
- "Leading a transition means always being "on" as a leader. You cannot just push hard for a few weeks, and assume that everything is underway." Situations of transition are a lot of work and require a lot of effort. It is important that as a leader you determine what your role is and how you will need to behave to ensure that the transition is successful.
What will your role be in order to generate the necessary behaviors and actions in others to help the organization reach its objective?
- How do I develop a solid strategy for the transition when there is so much uncertainty and so many moving parts?" Most transition situations have a strong element of uncertainty, with moving parts every step of the way. It can be very unsettling to navigate a team through these unstable conditions.
How can you confidently develop the necessary, flexible, strategy that can be implemented throughout the entire transition?
